Privacy Policy

About this policy

The Unbaked Bakery (“we”, “us”, “our”) is a New Zealand business based at 206 Devon Street West, New Plymouth. This policy explains what personal information we collect through theunbakedbakery.co.nz, how we use it and how you can access or correct it. We handle your information in line with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.

What we collect

We only collect what we need to run the website and look after your orders. This includes:

  • Account details: your name, email address and password (stored securely and never visible to us), and the date you accepted our Terms & Conditions.
  • Membership details: your plan, trial and renewal dates, and whether your subscription is active.
  • Orders and bookings: what you bought or booked, your pickup date, delivery address, phone number and any notes you add.
  • Enquiries: anything you send us through the catering form or by email.
  • How you use the site: the recipes you save as favourites, and anonymous usage information collected by Google Analytics (see below).

How we use it

  • To create and manage your account and membership.
  • To process orders, workshop bookings and catering enquiries, and to contact you about them.
  • To send you service emails, such as your welcome email, password resets, order confirmations and, for members, new recipe announcements.
  • To understand how the website is used so we can improve it.
  • To meet our legal and tax obligations.

We don’t sell or rent your personal information to anyone.

Payments

All card payments, for memberships, shop orders and workshops, are processed by Stripe. Your card details are entered on Stripe’s secure checkout and go straight to Stripe. We never see or store your full card number. Stripe shares only what we need with us, such as your name, email, address and the status of your payment.

Analytics and cookies

We use Google Analytics to see how visitors find and use the website, such as which pages are popular. Google Analytics uses cookies and collects information like your browser, device, general location and the pages you visit. It doesn’t tell us who you are.

When something goes wrong on the website, we use Sentry to record technical details of the error, such as the page, your browser and a masked recording of the screen leading up to it. It doesn’t include what you type or anything that identifies you.

We also use essential cookies to keep you signed in and remember your cart. The website won’t work properly without them.

Who we share it with

We use trusted service providers to run the website, including for payments, hosting, sending emails, analytics, error monitoring and delivering posted orders. They only use your information to provide their service to us.

Some of these providers store information outside New Zealand, including in Australia and the United States. We choose providers that protect personal information to a standard comparable to New Zealand law. We may also share information if the law requires it.

Keeping it safe

We take reasonable steps to protect your information from loss, misuse and unauthorised access. Only the people who need it to run the business can see it. We keep your information only for as long as we need it, or as long as the law requires (for example, tax records).

Accessing and correcting your information

You can see and update your name in your account at any time, and delete your account from the same page. You also have the right to ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or to ask us to correct it. Email us at hello@theunbakedbakery.co.nz and we’ll respond within 20 working days.

If you’re not happy with how we’ve handled your information, please let us know and we’ll do our best to put it right.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated at the top.
